Walzem Family YMCA Receives LEED Silver Certification

The Walzem Family YMCA in San Antonio has received LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. An adaptive re-use of a former Albertson’s grocery store, the building utilizes expansive square footages for recreation spaces. Features include a bamboo gymnasium floor and large openings for glazing punched in the existing tilt wall to fill the space with natural light. Energy required to provide cool air to the large cardio/weights area is captured and is used to heat the indoor pool.

Parman Library Receives LEED Gold Certification

The Parman Library at Stone Oak in San Antonio has received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The building makes use of ample overhangs, screens, rambling pathways, and stone walls. Natural light has sculpted the building, which features expanses of high-performance glazing that offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and tree-line.

Renovation Project Receives Construction Award

The Lila Cockrell Theatre Renovation in downtown San Antonio, Texas has been named one of the most significant construction projects of 2011 by the Associated General Contractors of America at the Association’s national conference. The Alliant Build America Awards recognize the nation’s most noteworthy construction projects.

High School Receives Design Award

Marmon Mok was honored with an Excellence in Design award from TASA/TASB for Wm. J. Brennan High School, a Northside Independent School District school.

Green Building Award

The City of San Antonio honored Marmon Mok with a 2011 Green Building Award, an Honorable Mention in the commercial project category for its design of the Walzem Family YMCA. The awards honor commercial builders, residential builders, remodelers, architects and designers and other organizations for advancing green building through innovative design and construction techniques, excellent educational programs and successful advocacy efforts. 6.2.2011

Lila Cockrell Project Recognized

Marmon Mok’s renovation of the Lila Cockrell Theatre received an Outstanding Construction Award by the Associated General Contractors of America/Texas Building Branch.

Tobin Center Breaks Ground

The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts had a ceremonial groundbreaking on May 10th. The new home for symphony, opera, theatre and ballet is expected to open in spring 2014. In association with LMN Architects of Seattle, Marmon Mok is designing the renovation and adaptive-reuse of the 1920s Municipal Auditorium. 5.10.2011

Parman Library Opens Its Doors

Marmon Mok is proud to have designed this 17,000 SF library with multi-purpose educational spaces, walking trails, sustainable features and with careful consideration to the location of the building so not to disrupt its natural setting. Parman Library is on track to be certified LEED Silver by the USGBC. 5.7.2011
