Texas A&M University Student Recreation Center Expansion Awarded
Marmon Mok led the design team of the original Student Recreation Center at Texas A&M University – College Station which went on to win several design awards when completed in 1995. Now, almost 20 years later, Marmon Mok is excited to announce being awarded the new expansion project which will include a new gymnasium, aquatics facility, activity rooms, multipurpose banquet room and fitness/weight areas. 01-15-13
Convention Center Team on Fast Schedule
As part of the Hunt/Zachry Joint Venture team, the Populous and Marmon Mok design team are working on the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center expansion project, a $325 million design-build contract, the largest civic construction project in San Antonio’s history. 01-02-13
Tobin Performance Center Topping Out Ceremony
The project team on the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts signed the very last and only purple steel beam to be lifted to the building and placed at the pinnacle of the structure. In association with LMN Architects, Marmon Mok is providing architectural services for the adaptive reuse of the 4,500-seat, 1920s era Municipal Auditorium into a “world class” performing arts center. 12-06-12
UTHSC Center for Oral Health Care and Research Breaks Ground
The Kahler Slater/Marmon Mok team has been hard at work designing the new 195,000 square foot, Center for Oral Health Care and Research, the future of oral healthcare education, dental training and patient care at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School. The groundbreaking was celebrated on October 26, 2012.

Marmon Mok Project Wins AIA SA Citation Award
Marmon Mok received a Design Citation award for the Clarity Child Guidance Center Administration Building from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), San Antonio Chapter. 11.02.12
Calvert Residence Hall at Trinity University Receives LEED Gold Certification
Calvert Residence Hall at Trinity University has received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The building features covered bicycle storage, recycled water for landscaping, and Energy Star’s Portfolio Manager Software for energy use tracking. Rooms incorporate energy efficient lighting, low-flow toilets, low VOC paints, adhesives and carpet, and all furniture is made from recycled materials.
Walzem Family YMCA Receives LEED Silver Certification
The Walzem Family YMCA in San Antonio has received LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. An adaptive re-use of a former Albertson’s grocery store, the building utilizes expansive square footages for recreation spaces. Features include a bamboo gymnasium floor and large openings for glazing punched in the existing tilt wall to fill the space with natural light. Energy required to provide cool air to the large cardio/weights area is captured and is used to heat the indoor pool.
