Providing an “Extensive Facelift” to the Trinity University Bell Athletic Center

Our Recreation Sports team is currently working on the renovation and addition of the Bell Athletic Center at Trinity University. The $14.2 million project is scheduled to begin construction in September 2015. Some of the renovations will include an Olympic strength training room, upgraded locker rooms, natatorium upgrades and new bleachers in gymnasium. Also, a new fitness center will be added that will house state-of-the-art equipment for recreation and wellness activities. Northside ISD Gymnasium in Full Swing

Recently, the Marmon Mok team completed 100% Construction Documents for the Northside ISD new sports gymnasium. The 2,500-seat gym is part of the 2010 School Bond. See more information about the project in the February issue of InsideNorthside Lessons Newsletter on page 7. 2-27-2015

Alamodome Renovations for 2018 NCAA Final Four

The City of San Antonio won the bid to host the 2018 NCAA Men’s Final Four basketball championship and on January 13 the San Antonio City Council approved the award for the Turner/Marmon Mok/Populous design-build contract to renovate the Alamodome in preparation for the event. Numerous improvements include a shaded north plaza, widened mezzanine concourses on the east and west sides, a new multi-purpose media room, and high definition and wireless technology. Happy New Year!

Our staff is back from the holidays and Marmon Mok is off to a great year with several new projects in design: University of Texas Health Science Center MARC Plaza Medical Office Building, YMCA/Library adaptive-reuse, and the Andrews Air Force Base Exchange. 1-5-15

Holiday Celebration

Marmon Mok staff celebrated the holidays with a luncheon at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and with a white elephant gift exchange. On behalf of our entire staff, thank you to our clients, teaming partners, consultants and general contractors for making 2014 a tremendous year. 12-12-14

Congratulations Joel Fernandez, AIA

Congratulations to Joel Fernandez for receiving his Texas Architecture Registration. We are proud of Joel for achieving this professional goal. Joel is currently working on the construction administration of the Texas A&M University Student Recreation Center Expansion and Renovation. 12-3-2014

Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center Expansion Topping Out

The City of San Antonio and the Hunt/Zachry/Populous/Marmon Mok design/build team took time out to celebrate the progress of the 750,000 sq. ft. expansion together with the City staff, numerous consultants, subcontractors and hundreds of construction workers on site. Everyone signed a structural beam and cheered as it was lifted into place. Completion is scheduled for August 2016. 11-21-2014

Fit Company Challenge

To promote health and wellness, Marmon Mok staff participated in the Fit Company Challenge. Six individual contestants and one relay team competed in a 3 course physical challenge and a 5-K run. There were 20 companies participating with over 75 participants. Our relay team came in 2nd place and our firm ranked 4th for the overall Fittest Company. A great victory for our first year. Congratulations to Denise Beneke, Xavier Cantu, Matt Carrell, Greg Houston, Felicia Love, Carlos Lucio, Michelle Montgomery, Jonathan Olvera, Danny Tran and Morgan Williams for a job well done. 11-7-14
