SUSTAINABILITY
Marmon Mok is committed to, and has a proven record of, designing environmentally responsive buildings that are both energy and resource efficient. This approach is referred to as sustainable, or “green,” building and refers to the practice of designing, constructing, and operating facilities with the intent to minimize their impact on the environment, while seeking to create comfortable and healthy environments for building users. This is accomplished by reducing material consumption, minimizing energy and water demands, better management of waste streams, and improving the indoor air quality of the building.
Since 2004, Marmon Mok has been a member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC), which manages and administers the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Ratings System. We have collaborated with a number of our clients on the design of facilities intended to meet LEED criteria, including AAFES, Citibank, and the City of San Antonio. Our environmental efforts are led by a team of architects, designers, and interior designers who are all LEED accredited professionals. Members of this team frequently make presentations to the community or professional conferences to discuss green building issues.
